Accreditation for Self-Employed Care Professionals

Self-Employed Accreditation Programme (SEAP)

Welcome to the NACAS Self-employed Accredited Programme (SEAP),created exclusively for self-employed care professionals or those considering self-employment as a social care career option This open-source programme has been introduced with a strong commitment to safeguarding the profession’s integrity, protecting the public interest, and supporting genuine self-employed care professionals. By becoming a SEAP Accredited Care Professional, you demonstrate your dedication to delivering the highest standards of care and accountability, setting yourself apart as a trusted and verified professional.

Who Can Apply For Accreditation?

SEAP is an open-source initiative designed to provide recognition for self-employed care professional meeting specific standards of quality and performance. It is important to note that participation in this programme does not imply membership of NACAS.

The programme is available to all eligible self-employed care professionals who meet the outlined criteria, regardless of their relationship with NACAS.

Accreditation Grading & Fees

To ensure a high standard of service quality and safety, all self-employed care professionals will be required to meet specific accreditation requirements. The SEAP is organised into three tiered grades—Elite , Intermediate, and Entry —with Elite representing the highest level of accreditation. The grade and fee level is determined by the quality and extent of verification a self-employed care professional can demonstrate in key areas. Here's a breakdown of what each care professional needs to know:

Core Requirements

Regardless of grade level, every self-employed care professional must supply evidence of the following:

  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check

An Enhanced DBS check ensures that care professionals are screened thoroughly for any criminal background or other potential issues that might affect the safety of the individuals they serve.

  • Liability Insurance

This insurance provides essential protection, both for the care professional and for the clients they support, in the case of any unforeseen incidents or accidents during the delivery of services.

These two documents are essential to be considered for any tier in the accreditation system.

Demonstrate Your Commitment

The SEAP showcases your commitment to upholding the highest standards of care and accountability. By joining this programme you reinforce your professional credibility and stand out in the care sector as a trustworthy and verified self-employed professional.

Protecting Public Interest and Professional Integrity

With SEAP, we are taking proactive steps to protect both care recipients and the care sector. This tier ensures that all self-employed care professionals meet stringent verification standards, maintaining public trust and safeguarding the reputation of the care profession.
