NACAS & Care Providers

Building a Stronger, Professional Workforce

NACAS is the professional body for care workers in the UK. We are setting standards, supporting career development, and leading the professionalisation of the care workforce.

At NACAS, we are proud to support the social care workforce in all its forms, employed and self-employed alike.

We recognise, value and respect the crucial role that care providers play in delivering regulated, high-quality care, and we want to be clear:

NACAS does not promote or favour self-employment over direct employment.

Our mission is to elevate the professionalism of all care workers, regardless of how they are engaged. We support self-employed care professionals in understanding and meeting their legal responsibilities — not as a way to bypass regulation, but to help ensure that anyone providing care is doing so safely, ethically, and competently.

What NACAS Membership Means:

  • It is not an endorsement of an individual’s business or services.

  • It does signal a care professional’s commitment to quality, accountability, and continued professional development.

  • All members, employed or self-employed, must adhere to our Code of Conduct and uphold high standards of care.

We welcome collaboration with care providers, employers, and sector leaders to ensure that our support aligns with the shared goal we all hold: to deliver outstanding care and protect those who receive it.

If you're a provider who wants to learn more about NACAS or work together to strengthen the sector, we’d love to hear from you.

For providers, partnering with NACAS means:

  • Raising workforce quality – We promote standards that align with best practice, regulation, and inspection frameworks.

  • Improving recruitment and retention – NACAS membership adds value to your employment offer and helps attract those committed to care as a career.

  • Supporting career progression – We offer tools, recognition, and pathways that motivate staff and support long-term development.

  • Demonstrating commitment to professionalism – Partnering with NACAS shows your organisation is invested in a stable, skilled, and respected workforce.

We’re already working with forward-thinking providers who see the future of care as professional, regulated, and recognised. Join us to support your teams and strengthen your service.
