A People Plan For Social Care

A comprehensive People Plan for social care has been long awaited and the Institute of Health & Social Care Management (IHSCM) and the IHSCM Social Care Innovators People Plan Sub-Committee has proactively addressed this deficiency.

IHSCM engaged in a three-month consultation where all current leaders in social care, which included input from NACAS which provided with the opportunity to offer their comments for this report so that a People Plan for the sector could be created by the sector instead of just for the sector.

This People Plan is the result of that 3-month consultation with care managers, providers and leaders and frontline staff by the Institute of Health and Social Care Management (IHSCM) and the IHSCM Social Care Innovators People Plan Sub Committee. The people plan sub committee was formed August 2021 and consultation ran through to the end of November 2021.

The National Association of Care and Support Workers, is proud to be associated with the People Plan and its recommendations, some of which the Association is already actively addressing, and will over the coming months, look to work with IHSCM and other partners to address the issue of the registration of social care workers on the development of a voluntary professional register.

The Plan was formally launched and endorsed by the President of the IHSCM, Lord (Philip) Hunt of Kings Heath  at the Palace of Westminster on March 28th 2022
